A Farewell Party
“There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir,” wrote Canadian poet William Bliss Carman. The Romance Vagabonds might well adopt that line from Carman as our own, for this October we will pack the caravan, douse the campfire, and set out on new journeys. We have loved our time together and our time with you, but life is filled with changes. Most of you know that Lindsey is busy with an exciting new job as Managing Editor at Samhain Publishing. You may not know that in addition to her day job as a college librarian, Manda is hard at work on a wonderful new Regency series, and Élodie has just entered the final stage of her Ph.D. program and will spend the next several months writing her dissertation and teaching Media and Communications classes to college students. I am writing full time now and will shortly begin the query process. All of us are excited about the next stage in our lives, but we end our time as Vagabonds with pride in what we have done here, with gratitude for you who have joined our caravan, and with a week-long goodbye.
We have loved hosting the Visiting Vagabonds, and it seems appropriate that a Visiting Vagabond will be part of our farewell week. We announce with pride and pleasure that our final Visiting Vagabond will be Courtney Milan, Vagabond friend and favorite, who is celebrating her print debut this month with “This Wicked Gift,” a novella in the Christmas anthology, This Heart of Mine. Courtney will join us on Tuesday, October 6.
Each Vagabond will also post a final time to say her own good-bye to you. We will be giving away great books each day, so be sure to join us October 5-9 for the gypsies’ farewell party.
Very sorry to hear this, but I wish you all the very best and every success in the future! Hope you’ll keep in touch.
Hugs,
Christine
It’s very saddening to hear of this but at the same time I’m thrilled for all your successes and the road you have paved ahead of you.
Goodluck in all you do and I know we will all keep in touch =D You will be missed!
((((((Hugs))))))
I’ll be sure to be back for the farewell party. LOVE you guys and all that this group has accomplished over the years.
OH, I will miss you, vagabonds! but I wish you all success!
I too am saddened to hear that your band of Vagabonds will be moving on from this ‘camp’. But moving on, seeking out a new experience, that is the life of a Vagabond, is it not? I wish all of you the best of luck in your new adventures. And I would like to take a moment to express my thanks. Thank you Vagabonds for taking the time to share a bit of your self … your thoughts … through your blogs. I enjoyed them immensely. And I want you to know, that this was one of my favorite sites. Sometimes you made me laugh … or cry … but always … Always … you made me Think.
That’s what made RV special.
I have enjoyed your sojourn here at Romance Vagabonds. Thanks for letting me hang out around your camp fire.
God bless and bon voyage.
Julie Du Chesne
Oh no. I will really miss hanging out with you guys.
Aww, you guys! You’re making me sad! But this is not “goodbye” but “until next time” because this romance world is small enough that I know we’re going to bump into one another again! And we’ll always see one another at Janga’s new digs at Just Janga!
Hugs!
I remember when you all were pitching your tents and I suggested Romance Vagrants as your name…but somehow you had the wisdom to ignore me. Best of luck to each of you. It’s been so much fun to be a small part of the gypsy world, but I know I’ll bump into you on the road. XXOO.
Oh, I have to say this makes me so sad! I love this blog – you guys are always so much fun and so smart! Always a great discussion. But when it’s time to move on…the road calls, doesn’t it? It’s great that so many wonderful things are happening in your lives, but I’ll still miss you – at least in this forum! Thanks for being such a great part of romancelandia, Vagabonds! Love you all!
And another thing! Romance Vagabonds was the first place I ever guest-blogged about my book. You guys were so incredibly supportive – I’ll never forget it! But that was one of things I always loved about this blog. You really championed debut authors. Thanks so much for everything!
Oh, no, I’m so sad! I rarely comment, but come by and see what you ladies are up to all the time, and enjoy your positive energy and thoughtful posts. I will surely miss you–I feel all sad and gooey inside.
That being said, I know everything has its own lifespan, and I send out huge congrats on all your accomplishments so far, and wish you all well in all your future endeavors!
Best wishes as you journey forward.
You guys are definitely going to be missed. Hopefully we’ll still hear your “voices” through all the different avenues you choose to take. Congratulations and the best of luck to you all!
I echo Manda’s thanks to you all. And she’s right. We are not disappearing from the romance community. You will still “see” us at various blogs and boards. We all still feel strong ties to the EJ/JQ bulletin board where the Vagabonds met. And I assure you as Squee Days arrive for any of the Vagabonds, I’ll invite you all to join in celebration at Just Janga.
I’m sorry I’m late to the party, but you guys really put the “bond” in “Vagabond.” Best wishes to you all.
I’m going to miss you guys. This is a great blog.
All good things must end. Its the way of the world!
Thanks vagabonds for some fascinating blogs.
Thanks for inviting some fabulous Authors … I met Jo Beverley here.
Thanks especially to Janga for towing the caravan toward the final resting place.
Thanks most of all for putting up with me. !!!
You have all been much appreciated.
You will all be sadly missed.
As a long-time (if lurking) Vagabonds fan, I’m sad to see the blog fade away. But it sounds like you’re all on to wonderful adventures, and I can only wish you the very finest. May you each achieve much success in your various undertakings.
It is very hard to keep a blog interesting over a long period of time, but you guys certainly did it. I will miss making my daily visit here, but I do wish you all the best in your new endeavors.
Awww, bummer. I’ll miss you– wish you the best of luck though, and hope to see you around in the comment-o-sphere!
The Vagabonds have brought me many happy blog-reading hours over the past few years. I’m sad to see an end to the caravan but, at the same time, am thrilled for your individual successes and all the wonderful possibilities the future holds for each of you. I won’t say good-bye because I know I’ll be seeing you at other boards and blogs as well as at conferences. Instead, I’ll wish you sunshine and smiles as you venture forth on paths not yet traveled.
Hugs,
~PJ
Janga, so terrifically sorry to see that the Vagabonds are packing up the caravan. You girls are great and it’s always been such a buzz when I’ve visited. I’m sure I’ll see you all in various guises around the web but just wanted to finish with a great big hug and a resounding THANK YOU!!!!
