I can haz free books?
Okay, so Lindsey told us Monday about Read an eBook Week. And there is a whole lotta celebrating going on. Not only, as my man Tiny points out in the image to your left, is free romance in the offing, but also some OTHER cool genre fiction as well! Woohoo!
Cerridwen Press is offering a free download of my chapter mate Candace Sams’ fantasy novel Gryphon’s Quest.
The digital magazine eBook Guru has partnered with Champagne Books to offer not one, but TWO free ebooks: Invisible by Kimber Chin and Mis-Staked by J. Morgan.
eHarlequin is offering a free download of Jennifer LaBrecque’s Blaze title Triple Threat. Though I’m not sure this is actually in honor of Read an eBook Week, still, it’s a free book. And around here we do not look gift books in the mouth…or whatever.
The Wild Rose Press will be adding new “rose petal” free reads during Read an E-Book Week. These are short stories between 750 and 3000 words. Some of their authors are also holding a contest that ends on March 17th with a Sony e-book reader as the prize!
And because I’m still a sucker for a well-written British mystery, Rowmark Publishing is offering the first in Pauline Rowson’s Inspector Horton mysteries, Tide of Death, as a free download this week. I’ve never read Rowson but this marine mystery series sounds promising. They are set in Portsmouth, England. Yum. I feel a sea chanty coming on…
And don’t forget to comment on Lindsey’s Monday blog so that you can get a chance to win Meg Benjamin’s Venus in Blue Jeans, Reilly Ryan’s Ship of Dreams or Sydney Somers’s Whatever it Takes.
So, vagabonds, seen any good free deals on the internets lately? Share the wealth!
I love read an ebook week!
Samhain is having festivities in their “cafe” all week with prizes practically on the hour!
Definitely check it out: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/samhaincafe/
The Harlequin anniversary free reads are still up aren’t they? And Kindle suddenly has a ton of free books – mostly Project Gutenberg, I think, but definitely some good stuff in there. And JK’s right – tons of giveaways going on to those who participate in the Samhain cafe.
Plus here! Comment on any post this week for a chance to win.
Oh, and always good to see Tiny back. He’s like our mascot!
Hey! J.K. Coi is in the house
Thanks for the Samhain heads-up
And, yes, Linds, those Harlequin Anniversary reads are still up. Here’s a link.
Heh–yeah Tiny is more famous than I am
And boy does he love teh romance…
OMG, Tiny is the cutest! And he obviously has fabulous taste.
Thanks for the news, Manda. I downloaded the mystery for a good change of pace. I took advantage of the Harlequin offer a few weeks ago and have several books just waiting for me to find the time to read them. Free is fabulous!
Hi Manda!
Thanks for mentioning the Champagne Promotion.
I’m really excited that Invisible is being offered for free
(this week only though so if readers are interested, they shouldn’t wait).
Tiny is absolutely adorable!
I found a few more free Harlequin ebooks:

Thanks, Vanessa
Isn’t he a cutie? Though I have to say he’s much bigger than that now. He is a strange kitty, though. He really belongs to my older cat, Spike. Tiny doesn’t snuggle with me, but with Spike. And he just now after two years has started to purr when I pet him. Before that he only purred for Spike, who is his surrogate dad. It’s sweet really.
Maggie, let me know what you think of the mystery. I must say I’m intrigued by the idea of it. And if we don’t like it, well then, it was free so no harm no foul.
Kimber, thanks for dropping by! And for the heads up about your book. I have a chaptermate who is pubbed with Champagne too–Allison Knight. She loves them! Hope you make oodles of new fans with this promotion!
Minna, great search strategy! For those who are curious, she did a search for all books at eHarlequin that cost less than $5 (It won’t let you do a 0$ search.) Even if you find something that’s not free, it will at least be affordable! I am really impressed with eHarlequin these days.
Advanced search, cost less than $5 and order by price. That way you’ll have the free books on the top of the list. Here are more free ebooks from Harlequin:

Ooh, thanks for the info, ladies–I did know about some of the Harlequin ones, and the Samhain party, but I haven’t been able to be on the computer much to actually join their chats!
Anyway, I’m still reading my ebooks on the computer, so it isn’t terribly portable yet!
I swear Manda. Every time I see Tiny and that book I crack up!
I love free stuff and with next week being Spring Break, I just may have to ditch the academic boring stuff and read me some e-books all week long! Yay!
Thanks for all the great links!
Smiles,
Élodie
I had no idea this idea of giving out free ebooks was so widespread. It’s a brilliant and very generous move on these publishing houses’ part. I’m becoming a slow fan of Ebooks but there are so many good books being released.
